I had the privilege to go to Las Matas de Farfán in the Dominican Republic to serve with a team of over 90 from the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and the US. It was a life-changing event! Because of my background as a nurse, I was able to support the medical mission team doing door to door evangelism, home health visits, and community health training. The community health training students will go on to form a community health and use the knowledge we shared as an outreach to the community. There was a general schedule, but we needed to be flexible to allow for God’s leading. When not working on the medical team, I enjoyed talking to and praying with the motorcycle taxi drivers through the reflective tape ministry. The church and local community ministered to us at the same time we were there to support their work. It is an amazing thing to travel to another country and have a ready-made family. There are many things to love about the Dominican Republic, the worship, the food, the coffee, the music, the beautiful country, but the best part is the people. Their kindness, welcoming hearts, ingenuity, resilience, and thoughtfulness was overwhelming. Some of my most precious memories were visiting people in their homes, hearing their stories, and building relationships. I journalled during the trip and spent time writing down people’s names so I could hold onto them a little longer. The trip to the Dominican Republic was a whirlwind of varied experiences, but it says much about the country and the people that I was thinking of my next trip before I even boarded the plane to fly home.

So glad you you enjoyed going- you are such a great blessing. Thank you for your obedience and loving our people so beautifully.
